» Hotel Royal Dago Bandung
Hotel Royal Dago Bandung
by: Emma Kwee

Hotel Kedaton opened in 1997 and is located strategically in the heart of the business area of Bandung . The train station is a mere 5 minute drive away and the airport can be reached in less than 15 minutes. It mostly caters to business related visitors but has the facilities to appease to families and couples as well.

The lobby instantly reveals its small scale and friendly character. With 116 rooms, hotel Kedaton is neither big nor small. Somehow, the atmosphere one feels upon entering is personal, familiar and not at all business minded. The decorations have a certain class to it and it doesn't lose its sense of coziness. This makes guests feel at home instead of on a short term visit.

The rooms are decorated in a modern fresh manner with minty curtains and bedcovers. They are good in size and well equipped. It is quite refreshing after all the old and tired rooms that most of Bandung 's midrange of hotels seem to adhere to.

The swimming pool forms a lively scene with kids splattering about and guests lounging by the pool side. The majority of guests are locals and the hotel seems to have no problem keeping its occupancy rate high. Not too surprising if one takes a closer look at the facilities and services offered by this quaint hotel.

The lobby is also home to a 24 hour coffee shop and a cake shop that is tastefully decorated and is manned by a cheerful staff. The difference between this hotel and many others in the same price range is that this place is cared for by the people who own it and work in it, and that drastically changes the ambience and the feel-good factor of a place.

Hotel Kedaton is certainly a light in the dark and sometimes downright depressing jungle of Bandung hotels. The facilities are top notch, the place is well kept and cheerfully decorated and the sense of liveliness and friendliness is a true bonus to the low room rates.
