Grandkemang Hotel
by: Dina Indrasafitri

After the much-awaited renovation which began in 2004, the grandkemang Hotel promises to return with more zest and color in order to spice up its guests’ life. The grandkemang was born in 1975, one of the first hotels ever to make it in the Kemang area. In 1994, the hotel experienced its first face lift and in 2004, it took on a new sense of style altogether.

From outside, its in-your-face urban chic. Although the main gate is rather humble, its crisp-white and modern exterior will catch your attention instantly, especially at night when the lighting is enhanced by the glass ceilings and the simple decorative fountain at front.

The reception area is strikingly spacious, especially because the hotel seems to minimize the use of furniture and decorations, perhaps because of the low ceilings. The white-and-gold colors are combined with modern furnishings and artworks, inducing some kind of urban, eclectic feel. Upon entering, you will not lay your eyes on the reception desk but on the liaison concierge post. The liaison concierges are easily noticed by their black uniforms, their attractiveness and their quick-to-react moves.

The grandkemang’s modern, colorful style is not easily noticeable when you enter Splendeo, the superior rooms, which verges more towards the safe, typical hotel standards, except perhaps for the stylish table lamp. It’s the usual bed, small table and one comfort chair. Vivero, the deluxe rooms, have more personality with its colorful bedside lamp, although the choice of geometrically playful closet and cupboard makes the room a bit over stated. Glanza, the Grand Deluxe rooms, a recently added choice for your stay, are probably the most impressive of all. The room is comfortable with lots of space, hip-minimalist detail for furniture, and a flat screen television.

The suite rooms are nicely done in terms of decorations and space, but you will not find a room separator between the bedroom and seating area. Such separations are only available in the residential rooms where guests can choose between one-roomed, two roomed and the duplex-style, three roomed residential. The Residential lobby is separated from the hotel lobby in order to ensure privacy and comfort.

To say that the beds are comfortable would be an understatement. It would be more appropriate to say that they are a Jacuzzi without the water and twice the relaxation. It’s so easy to fall in love with the fluffy pillows and the duvet covers. Nevertheless, in some type of rooms, bath rooms left with no special detail. You will find bathtubs only available in new deluxe, grand deluxe, suites, and residential. But with thick comforting towels which prepared in each bathrooms, after shower will remain the same satisfaction. Also for some who prefer a higher level of coolness, the air conditioner may not be strong enough; but in such situation, maintenance staffs are ready on call for assistance.

Modernity and style is what this four-star hotel offers for its guests. Even the ‘do not disturb’ signs in the deluxe and suite rooms are not your plain hanging signs. Aside from the door bell there’s an electronic display which could be controlled from the bedside. The staffs are helpful and practical, and many guests feel at home when staying in the grandkemang. grandkemang Hotel might go for minimalist in some areas, but it makes up for them in other areas, the maximum way.

A Word From Sales Manager, Ms Tami
The new grandkemang promises to add color to our life and that does not apply only to the hotel’s colorful interiors, but also to their promise of preserving the guest’s natural ‘colors’ or characters. The guests’ likes and dislikes are recorded in order to provide a reference should they come for another stay in the grandkemang.

The excellent services provided by the staff ensure that your personality and needs are not inhibited by the fact that you are staying in a hotel. Thus, the grandkemang will try its best to give its guests the luxury of being themselves.

SD Verdict on grandkemang Hotel

  • A stylish hotel indeed. Minimalist style but satisfying for those who are tired with the typical peach and white hotels.
  • Great choices of bars and lounge, perfect for those wanting to experience many things at once.
  • The location says it all. If the bars and lounge are not satisfying enough, the whole Kemang area is there for you to explore
  • Superb services. The Liaison Concierges and staffs in general are very helpful.
