Dining Out in Jakarta
Jakarta has the best selection of dining possibilities of any major Indonesian cities. They range from street food and air-conditioned food centers in the shopping malls to very elegant and expensive fine dinning restaurants in well-noted hotels. In between there are plenty of good moderately priced restaurants that represent the best value for a quality meal.

    • Jalan Thamrin is the center of Jakarta for many visitors and has no shortage of eateries. The Jakarta Theatre building, Sarinah department store, Plaza Indonesia and any of the leading hotels on this street have a numbered of well-known dining possibilities to suit most tastes and budgets.

    • Kemang - For the epicurean or someone who just looking for a lively good time, one of the most recommended areas to go is Kemang in South of Jakarta. Kemang recognized to have the highest density and the best clustering fine dining in Jakarta, representing major mouth-watering cuisines around the globe. From savory local menus to Lebanese, Italian, French, Mexican, American and Brazilian to mention a few, mixed with lively nightclubs, discos and bars with live music. Most of the action found right on Jalan Kemang Raya, the “Main Street” of Kemang.

    • Local Food - For more adventurous looking for local colour in the evening hours, trendy eateries are found in Kafe Tenda or “Tented Cafés” which located along major through fares or some of the vacant development zones (e.g.: Sudirman Central Business District) and in Gading Batavia Food Promenade at Jalan Boulevard Barat, Kelapa gading-north Jakarta. The food is varied and relatively affordable, providing an unforgettable experience of Jakarta’s nightlife.
