Bliss at Air Cantee Spa.
by: Dina Indrasafitri

Life can wear you out. Of course, life is worth loving but sometimes the daily pressures can do anything but grind your bones and feed it to the sharks. Thank heavens there are people like the ancient royalties of Babylon and Rome who discovered the relaxation effects of water, thus contributing to the phrase ‘spa’ which is often associated with water.

Following the spa history, one relaxing haven in Wolter Mongonsidi road decides to name itself the ‘Air Cantee’ spa, which is a Sanskrit language meaning ‘the water of life’. Although it has only begun its activities for a few years, this spa has attracted many loyal customers and is always finding new ones.

From the slightly hidden signage to the greeneries surrounding the building, the Air Cantee Spa seems to beckon you to come and relax in seclusion amidst the rush hours. Although it sticks to the natural vibe common in Jakarta spas, Air Cantee does not dwell on traditional Indonesian décor and atmosphere. On the contrary, it presents its serenity in a more global manner. Earthy tones and spacious rooms are complemented with the smells of relaxing herbs such as lavender and rose.

The two-story spa has four couple suites and seven standard rooms. The couple suites are divided into villa types with regular beds and natural stones, and executive types with floor beds. The rooms are simple and airy, without too many overwhelming fragrances or decorations. The couple suites are equipped with mini Jacuzzis and the standard rooms are equipped with bath tubs. Large manicure-pedicure sections are available on both floors. Two large Jacuzzi pools are available on the first floor and each floor is equipped with a sauna room.

The first floor is actually aimed at male customers, since the Air Cantee spa is one of the few spas in Jakarta that dares to promote male-specific treats, such as the ‘Masculine energizing package’ which features treatments like the coffee body scrub and refreshing compress. Another package titled ‘masculine restoring’ even includes body stretching and exercise, thus will surely convince that this spa is indeed manly enough for the guys to enjoy.

Of course, the ladies need not to worry about their needs either. One of the specialties of Air Cantee Spa is the Dead Sea body scrub and body mask. The mud used is imported straight from Israel in their original form and the treatment is ensured to have amazing effects on the skin’s appearance and your well-being in general. A special package for pregnant women is also available.

Air Cantee offers several kinds of massage to choose from, the Nusantara Massage is quite strong and uses deep pressures, the home-style Indonesian way, while the Ultimate Massage is delicate and gentle, other types include the Deep Tissue Massage and the Detoxification Massage. Yet, the real signature of this spa is the Pohon Hayyu healing massage. The Pohon Hayyu massage involves reiki-like flows of energy from the therapists to flow to the body in order to stimulate healing and relaxation. The therapists are especially trained in using this method and they are obliged to meditate each morning before work in order to get rid of their negative energies. Those who are interested in learning this method could also take up courses held in the Air Cantee.

From Ladies to Gents, and even mother-to-bes. The Air Cantee Spa is ready to provide its customers with the ultimate inner and outer healing.
