Grand Preanger Bandung
by: Emma Kwee

As might be expected from a 5 star hotel with the allure of Grand Preanger, luxury and service are the key elements that will accompany you during your stay here. The 189 rooms of the hotel are divided over three wings, the historical Asia Afrika wing, the Naripan wing and the art deco tower wing. Majority of the rooms are of the superior variety and there are 5 Grand deluxe rooms, 46 executive rooms, 5 suites and 1 presidential suite for those who demand to feel like a king. These up market rooms come complete with butler service and bulletproof glass (makes you wonder who visits this hotel).

All of the rooms are spacious, plush retreats where luxury comes as a given with facilities such as individually controlled a/c, minibar, coffee/tea making facilities, satellite television, radio, IDD telephone and private bathrooms. The decoration is tasteful with the many art deco features complementing to the general feeling of elegance and style.

The Preanger restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a selection of Western as well as Indonesian dishes. Other than that, La Patisserie is Preanger's own cake and bakery shop, with freshly baked goodies to everyone's flavour. The Wine corner with wines from every continent and the Curry Kitchen with Indian cuisine to blow of some steam, can also be found on the ground floor.

For those who enjoy screaming on the top of their lungs, Unix's is the place to be. This stylish bar is home to Karaoke lovers, with private rooms for rent and soundproofed walls that might come in handy. Standford Arms is a full blooded English pub with billiards, entertainment, football matches and all the pints of lager you might wish for.

The fitness center is currently under renovation but will be finished in 2007. Luckily, the swimming pool and spa are there for those who have a heart for health. Meanwhile, the nearby children's playground will keep the lil' ones occupied. A babysitter is available too to take care when mom's not there. That leaves all the more time for her to run to the beauty salon, get her nails done or get an acupuncture, and then release her money at the shopping arcade.

People with business on their hands can settle it all at Grand Preanger too. The 6 meeting rooms, the business center and business lunch program accommodate your every need.

It is absolutely no wonder why the Grand Preanger has 5 stars. The list of facilities and services is endless. The rooms are gorgeous, and there is so much to see and do inside the hotel that exploring Bandung might become like leaving your nest.
