Ardjuna Hotel Bandung
by: Emma Kwee

Hotel Ardjuna has already been in existence for over 30 years, but its recent facelift has altered the character of this boutique hotel completely. The couple who own this luxurious establishment on Jalan Ciumbuleuit have both managed to put their own ideas into the décor of the place. The result is a combination of modern luxury with natural harmony, the best of both worlds.

The lounge of the Ardjuna is only the first glimpse of what lies ahead. The spacious marble coated lobby is furnished with comfortable couches, while green plants and a fish pond add that touch of nature. All hallways are adorned with abstract art and dim lighting that fit in perfectly with the modern minimalist scheme going on. Earthy colours and the use of raw bricks and pebbles tie in neatly.

Talking style, the one place to check out is the Munar Spa. This is definite proof of the importance of décor and mood. Everything, from the sounds of rushing water, to the scent of incense and the dim lighting, work together to bring you into a higher state of mind.

The rooms are all fitted with a hard wooden floor, which provides a far more homely feel than those tired carpets most hotels adhere to. Again, dim lighting and abstract art are testament to good taste and a sense of exclusiveness. The beds are big and bouncy and the pillows white and fluffy, so comfort all around. With 77 rooms, the Ardjuna isn't exactly small and quaint, yet the coziness and warm décor result in a familiar and homely feel.

The friendly and welcoming staff only adds to the positive vibe that surrounds this hotel. All staff members, be it the at the front desk or the room maids, smile and greet guests cheerfully.

What makes this hotel special is that the owners have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into creating a place that is both cozy and classy. The ambience offered by their combined forces is one of elegance without being posh. The brochure reads: ‘Bring balance into life' and I couldn't agree more. This is without a doubt one of the best hotels Bandung has at this moment.
